Open Access Week 2014

This week is Open Access Week and as such there will be related events aimed at expanding the understanding of Open Access in the library throughout the week.  Below is a schedule of events, we would for you to attend a few.

Beyond Our Walls: A conversation with Kristi Jensen

Monday, October 20, 3-4pm

Bizzell Memorial Library, Community Room (LL118)

Jensen will present “Open Textbooks: Access, Affordability, and Academic Success.” The presentation will cover: (1) open and OER – what it is and what it isn’t; (2) how issues of affordability can impact student academic success; (3) open textbooks as a solution to affordability issues; (4) identifying barriers to adoption of open textbooks and how to help overcome those barriers; and (5) supporting faculty adoptions of open textbooks. Screening of Buster Keaton’s The General

Buster Keaton’s The General is considered one of the greatest films ever made, ranked by the American Film Institute as #18 of the 100 best American movies of all time.  Join Dr. Joanna Rapf, author of Buster Keaton:  A Bio-Bibliography, to learn more about Buster Keaton and to see The General.  Refreshments will be served.
